How this IQ score calculator works
Modern IQ scores are often reported as standard scores with mean 100 and standard deviation 15. If scores follow a normal distribution, each percentile maps to a z-score, then to IQ: IQ = 100 + 15 × z.
This is an educational inverse of percentile ranking — not a substitute for a normed test manual. See IQ 130 meaning and IQ 120 meaning for score interpretation guides.

FAQ
What IQ is the 98th percentile?
On a Wechsler-style scale (SD 15), roughly IQ 130 corresponds to about the 98th percentile — the common Mensa-style screening shorthand.
Is this the same as the percentile calculator?
This tool converts percentile → IQ. Our IQ percentile calculator converts IQ → percentile. Use both to cross-check educational estimates.
Which IQ scale does this use?
Mean 100, standard deviation 15 — the most common modern reporting scale (e.g. WAIS-IV style). Other tests may use SD 16 or different norms.
